Young to be shipped out
Queens Park Rangers,
Queens Park Rangers are getting ready to offload full-back Luke Young only a year after signing him from Aston Villa.
The 32-year-old was snapped up by former R's boss Neil Warnock following their promotion back to th Premier League, but the defender has now been deemed surplus to requirements by Warnock's successor Mark Hughes. The former Tottenham and Charlton stopper has made 23 league appearances for the R's but the writing has been on the wall for him at Loftus Road ever since the arrival of Nedum Onuoha from Manchester City in January. Rangers have circulated Young's name to other clubs to let them know that he is available for transfer as Hughes looks to bring in a replacement of his own choosing. One of the players in the Welshman's sights is the Newcastle right-back Danny Simpson, who is currently in dispute with the Magpies over a new contract as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his existing agreement. Also facing the exit door are strikers Jay Bothroyd, DJ Campbell and Rob Hulse, along with central defender Matt Connolly.
