Broadfoot reveals lucky escape

Rangers, 16:05, June 19, 2009 ,

Kirk Broadfoot has made it clear that the 'exploding egg' incident which caused hilarity in the press was anything but funny.

The Gers defender was injured when a dish he was using to cook an egg in a microwave at home exploded, leaving him with boiling liquid on his face and splinters of glass in his eyes.
He was taken to hospital for treatment and has made a full recovery but admitted that things could have been a lot worse.
"The accident was no joke," he said. "I think everyone looked upon it as something funny, but I could have lost my eyesight.
"There was boiling water and glass in my face. It was serious and I could easily have ended up losing my sight.
"Bits of glass had to be cleaned out of my eye. When I opened the microwave door it exploded. In the end, I was lucky it was not even worse."
