McCulloch eyes Gers place
Rangers, 19:52, November 17, 2008 ,
Lee McCulloch has told Walter Smith he is willing to play anywhere as long as he is in the Rangers first team.
The Scotland international usually plays in attack or midfield but was employed as an emergency central defender at the weekend in the win over St Mirren.
The 30-year-old put in an assured display and says he is happy to stay there if it means he is in the side.
"I play in a number of positions - and whenever the gaffer needs me, wherever he needs me, I'll keep myself fit and hope to come in and do a job," he revealed.
"He asked me not so long ago if I'd ever played there, and I said no. He told me I had the attributes to play there; he tried me in a couple of reserve games, and I've ended up playing on Saturday.
"I've played there in a couple of reserve games, and he thought I did all right. Injuries were the reason I played on Saturday. But I thought I did well, so I'll just get on with it and keep training away.
"I didn't get told until before the game that I would be playing, and it came as a bit of a surprise - as it probably did to 50,000 other people. But I thought I did well. I don't think I will be a mainstay there but I'm happy I did okay."
