Portugal defender eyes Ibrox move

Rangers, 14:46, June 16, 2009 ,

Sporting Lisbon defender Tonel's agent has said the central defender would be keen on a move to Rangers.

Rangers boss Walter Smith wanted to sign the 29-year-old in the January transfer window but a deal never materialised and he stayed in Portugal.
However, the player's agent, Marcelo Cipriano, has revealed he would be keen on a move to the SPL giants this summer if Smith renewed his interest although there are also two clubs in Italy ready to make bids.
"Rangers wanted to sign him last January but unfortunately this did not happen," Cipriano told Setanta.
"He has two options in Italy, two clubs that have been in touch with us but that are yet to make concrete offers.
"Of course Tonel would be pleased to join Rangers, as they are one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
"If they have a good offer on the table, then they should speak with Sporting to try to reach an agreement regarding a transfer to Scotland."
