Prem new-boys want midfielder

Rangers, 13:58, June 18, 2009 ,

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has confirmed he is interested in signing Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson this summer.

Ferguson has one year left on his current deal with the SPL champions, but the former Blackburn man has been heavily linked with a move back to the Premier League this summer.
The 31-year-old was a target of West Brom, before the exit of Tony Mowbray, but now Birmingham appear to be in the driving seat to land him after McLeish confirmed his interest.
The Blues boss is on holiday at the moment but is expected to step up his bid to sign Ferguson upon his return, and a deal in the region of £1million could be struck.
"I haven't made a move for Barry, but I have enquired about him," McLeish told the Daily Record.
"He is one of a number of players I'm interested in. I'm on holiday right now but I'm still working away at some things."
