Rangers are reported to be showing an interest in Manchester United defender Jonny Evans with a view to taking him on loan.
Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson says the 20-year-old has a future at Old Trafford and has ruled out a permanent move but he could be willing to let him go out on loan.
The Gers are on the look out for a new defender and reports claim that Walter Smith has been in touch with his good friend Ferguson to sound out a possible switch.
Evans did start against Stoke at the weekend though so even a loan move may be out of the question. Sunderland are also known to be keen after taking him on loan on two occasions already.
