SPL clubs vote against Gers entry
Rangers' newco will not be playing in the SPL next season after the rest of the league voted overwhelmingly against their entry.
Charles Green's newco needed to secure the majority of eight to four to allow their entry into the SPL when voting took place this morning, but as was expected they fell well short.
An SPL statement read: "At today's General Meeting, SPL clubs today voted overwhelmingly to reject the application from Rangers newco to join the SPL."
The Gers will now play in the Football League but it is still unclear which division. The SFL could opt to put them in the Irn-Bru First Division or insert them into the bottom tier.
Either way it is a humiliating fall from grace for the club, who have been in turmoil since entering administration.
