Reading loanee Benik Afobe credits input from Robin van Persie for helping mould him as a striker.
The England youth international, borrowed by the Royals from Arsenal, has revealed how the Dutch star has become something of a role model to him during his formative years at the north London club.
And now the 19-year-old is hoping to use van Persie's expertise to make a significant impression in the npower Championship.
"Robins speaks to me a lot and it was nice for him to look after me when I was injured," Afobe told the Reading Post. "He always tells me to think about my finishing before the game. That way, when you get to the game situation you don't start panicking and you know exactly what you're going to do.
"It's about being clever. When you're training with the likes of van Persie, as well as the defensive players, you realise how good they are and what stage you want to be at. As a youngster I'm always learning and it's the best thing for me to be playing with them.
"The best thing from now until April 28 would be to help Reading get promoted, and it would be a nice thing to have on my CV."
