Reading boss Brian McDermott has ruled out further new signings this summer, unless a special player becomes available.

McDermott has been busy strengthening his squad for the club's return to the Premier League with Garath McCleary, Chris Gunter, Pavel Pogrebnyak, Nicky Shorey, Danny Guthrie and Adrian Mariappa all arriving. There have been suggestions he is in the hunt for another striker after Jermain Defoe, Jordan Rhodes and Kevin Doyle were all linked but McDermott says the cheque book is closed for now. The Royals boss is happy with the business he has done so far but there is still a chance he could make a pre-deadline swoop if a player becomes available at the right price. "We're delighted with them," he told Sky Sports. "We have tried to get our business done as early as we possibly could. We finished the season quite early last season, so we're happy with what we've done. "We are not overly looking now. We've got two players for each position. If something comes later on in the window that we feel is good for us, then we might do something."
