Reading forward Simon Church will only be allowed to make a loan move away from the club if he agrees a new contract with the club.

Church was expected to leave the Royals on a loan deal during the summer transfer window but a deal could not be agreed, with manager Brian McDermott wanting to extend the strikers contract. The Welsh Internationals current contract is due to run out at the end of this season, which means he would be able to speak to clubs in the January transfer window. The 23-year-old will still be allowed to make a loan move away from the Premier League new boys in the next couple of weeks, despite the window closing yesterday. The academy graduate has yet to feature for Reading since their return to the top tier of English football and has been forced even further down the pecking order by the return of the suspended Jason Roberts.
