Reading centre-half Michael Duberry is determined to keep his place in the side after being out for three months.
A calf injury at the start of the season saw the former Chelsea man out of the side and he has had a long wait to get his chance to fight his way back in.
Andre Bikey's three-match ban gave him the green light to resume his defensive partnership alongside Ivar Ingimarsson in Monday night's 3-1 home win over Coventry.
"It has been a long time coming," Duberry told the Reading Post. "I've been waiting patiently and the chance came, so hopefully I've done enough for the gaffer (Steve Coppell) to think I deserve a place on Saturday at Barnsley.
"If the team had been losing and conceding a load of goals I would have been the first to be really frustrated.
"But Bikey and Ivar were keeping clean sheets and defending well, so I didn't have a reason to go knocking on the manager's door."
