Reading boss Steve Coppell is likely to restore Noel Hunt to his starting line up against Preston after he shook off an ankle injury.
The frontman missed the draw with QPR due to the injury but is now ready and will step back in next to top scorer Kevin Doyle, leaving Leroy Lita to return to the bench.
Alex Pearce will continue alongside Michael Duberry in the continued absence of Icelandic centre-half Ivar Ingimarsson who has undergone exploratory surgery on his knee injury.
