Reading boss Brian McDermott has dismissed rumours linking him with Carlton Cole and Alan Judge ahead of the transfer deadline.

McDermott has been busy in the transfer market this summer when adding seven new players to his ranks but the rumour mill has still been working overtime ahead of Friday.
Reports had linked West Ham striker Cole with a move to the club but with five strikers on his books a deal looks highly unlikely, while McDermott has also ruled out a swoop for Notts County winger Judge.
"Cole plays for West Ham, so I don't know where that story has come from," he said. "Someone might have looked at Judge, but not me. He's a good player, but we have a lot of players in his position."
Meanwhile the boss also says moves into the transfer market are unlikely to happen before Friday but has refused to completely rule it out.
"We've signed seven senior players and two younger players, that's right up there in this league," he added. "I don't think there will be any more signings, but you can never say never.
"We've got five strikers, there aren't many teams in this league with five strikers."
