Rivals dismiss striker bid

West Brom say they have not had a bid from Reading for Shane Long and insist the player is not for sale anyway.

Long has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move back to the Madejski Stadium but Baggies boss Steve Clarke has dismissed the rumours and says the striker is staying put.
"There has been nothing regarding Shane," Clarke revealed. "There have been no bids and he is not for sale. His future is with us 100%."
Royals boss Brian McDermott has said he is unlikely to strengthen further after drafting in a host of new players this summer, but if he was to move again, a new striker would be high on his wanted list.
McDermott has already been heavily linked with Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe and Huddersfield Town's Jordan Rhodes but has so far held back from making a bid.
