Jason Roberts could return for Reading against Newcastle on Saturday as Brian McDermott plans to make changes.
The veteran striker has yet to figure this season due to a calf problem but has now recovered and could be selected if he comes through a late fitness test. Elsewhere Mali winger Jimmy Kebe played against QPR in midweek and could keep his place if he has suffered no reaction to his hamstring problem, which will be assessed before the game. McDermott has no fresh injury worries but the boss is planning changes as Reading go in search of their first three points of the season. "You do what you have to do," he said. "You change things around. I had the self-same thing last season and the season before. You have to get the right formula, you've got to get the players to gel. "You have to do everything you can and just do the right things. If we keep doing what we think are the right things, the results will come. "We can only manage what we've managed - those games have gone. I very much look at the moment that we're in and make sure we do the right thing and that starts tomorrow, that's all we can do."
