Championship rivals Norwich City's bid to keep Leroy Lita on loan until the end of the season has been rejected by Reading.
The Canaries say they made a "very good financial offer" in a bid to secure Lita's services at Carrow Road until May but it was turned down by the Royals.
The 24-year-old is Norwich's top scorer this season, netting seven times and impressing on his three-month loan with the Canaries.
City boss Glenn Roeder told BBC Radio Norfolk: "We are still attempting to make it happen but they are not interested at this moment in time.
"We are at a distinct disadvantage at the moment unless Reading decide that if we are going to let him out on loan we may as well take a loan fee for him."
Lita's current contract with Reading expires at the end of the season and it seems Steve Coppell is keen to secure a fee for him in January rather than farm him out on loan again in the second half of the season.
