Royals star linked with Baggies move

Reading, 11:21, December 17, 2008

Tony Mowbray is hoping to land Reading striker Leroy Lita on loan with a view to a permanent deal next summer.

Mowbray is desperate to add some fire-power to his side following the injury to Ishmael Miller and he has targeted the former England under-21-international as the man who could help save their season.

The Baggies have not got loads of money to spend though so Mowbray is looking to take Lita on loan and then pay £5m for his services if they can survive in the Premiership.

"If we can find a clinical cutting edge then that will make a difference," Mowbray told the Birmingham Mail at the weekend. "We need to find someone with the desire, the hunger, the ability to score goals.

"If we do then I think we will have a fighting chance. If we can't find that then we will struggle because we won't score enough goals.

"There is no money. Who will give you a Premier League striker on loan?"
