Royals wait on 10
Defender Ian Harte and midfielder Brynjar Gunnarsson are among 10 players Reading are hoping will sign new contracts.
Harte and double promotion-winner Gunnarsson are in talks with the Royals about extending their stay at the club, while discussions are also underway with Nick Arnold, Jonathan Henly, Michael Hector, Charlie Losasso, Matt Partridge, Dean Santangelo, Gozie Ugwu and Josh Webb. But defender Andy Griffin, plus midfielders Brian Howard and Tomasz Cywka are among those who will not be offered new deals. Director of Football Nick Hammond told the club's official website: "There are so many examples, right from Andy Griffin, who was Brian [McDermott's] first signing, up to Tomasz Cywka, who made an impact this season, both on the pitch and with his personality around the group, but it's not just those two, everyone goes with our very best wishes and gratitude." Cedric Baseya, Cameron Edwards, Ethan Gage, John Goddard, Simon Locke, Carl McHugh, Jack Mills, David Murphy, Frankie Raymond and Jacob Walcott have all been released by the club. Midfield quartet Jay Tabb, Jimmy Kebe, Jake Taylor and Ryan Edwards, defender Joseph Mills, plus goalkeepers Mikkel Andersen and Alex McCarthy all signed new contracts earlier in the season.
