Reading are ready to offer striker Jason Roberts a bumper new contract to fend off interest from rival clubs.

Roberts penned an 18 month deal back in January and after he helped fire the Royals back into the Premier League, and boss Brian McDermott is keen to reward him with a new one.
McDermott is also keen to ensure the 34 year-old stays at the Madejski Stadium as there are clubs all around the world who are ready to offer the striker one final pay day before he hangs up his boots.
However Roberts has no intention of packing in just yet and also says the Premier League is the place to be.
"I'm a Premier League striker and that's where I want to be playing," he said recently. "I'm 34 now but I feel young and healthy and I want to keep going for as long as possible."
Even if Roberts does sign on the dotted line, McDermott is still on the look out for another striker to boost his firepower ahead of the new season and Senegal international striker Dame N'Doye appears to be his top target.
