Striker's hopes over

Reading, 13:58, April 15, 2010 ,

Reading's Shane Long has resigned himself to another season in the Championship following the defeat to Newcastle on Tuesday.

The Royals now sit nine points behind the play off places with a game in hand and, although they still have a mathematical chance of making the play offs, Long has all but given it up.
"Winning that Newcastle game would have given us a great chance," the striker told the Chronicle. "We can still do it mathematically but it's totally out of our hands now.
"There's still a possibility of sneaking in if we win our last four games but even that may not be enough."
