Reading youngster Jordan Obita has pledged his future to the club and wants to sign a new deal before pushing for the first-team.
The 18-year-old winger has just 12 months remaining on his current deal but is keen to sign a new one, as he believes the Madejski Stadium is the best place to continue his football education.
Royals boss Brian McDermott also believes the youngster has a bright future in the game and will bid to get him signed up to a new deal before rival clubs start to sniff around.
Obita just made two League Cup appearances last season, but has set his sights much higher for the forthcoming campaign.
"I want to stay here - it's a great club," the youngster revealed. "There are a lot of great players here and everyone in the first-team has been good to me.
"In Portugal I was rooming with Adrian Mariappa and he went through the youth ranks at Watford and talks to me a lot. I want to be in the matchday squad so bad, but he told me there is always time. I know I'm young, but I want to keep pushing forward.
"Playing Premier League football will be my main challenge - trying to get into the team is my main aim. My ambitions are high and I want to get in there as quick as I can."
