Holness leaves Dale

Rochdale have confirmed that Marcus Holness has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The 23-year-old defender arrived at Spotland from local rivals Oldham in October 2007. Originally signed on loan, Holness was offered a permanent deal with Dale in January 2008. Holness went on to make 93 appearances for the club during his five-year spell.
