Evans: Millers will come good
Rotherham manager Steve Evans is confident his side will win automatic promotion this season despite their inconsistent form.
Pre-season tipsters predicted the Millers to run away with League Two after a promising summer of recruitment and a move to their brand-new 12,000-seater home, but Evans' men have endured an up and down start and currently sit in 13th position after 11 games. But Evans insists his side need time to gel and has backed them to come good as the season develops. "Promotion is never won over 10 games, it's never won over 20 or 30 games," he said. "We only need to look at Swindon and Shrewsbury, who were not in the hunt for automatic promotion at this stage last year. "It will take six months to gel the squad and team. If we are in the play-off group at the turn of the year, we will get promoted automatically, I still believe that. "If you sign that many players, it doesn't matter whether you are Steve Evans or Sir Alex Ferguson, some will work, some won't, but you don't know until you get them through the door. "We are trying to create a culture here, at the last club I was at we created a culture but it took three or four years. I am going to get that time here, but that hasn't changed my view, we will still get promoted this season."
