Leeds Rhinos boss Brian McDermott has praised his side's performance following their 34-18 victory over the Catalan Dragons on Friday.
The Headingley club went into the match feeling that they had a point to prove after they were beaten 38-18 in Perpignan last season and McDermott has admitted that he used that result as part of side's motivation ahead of the game. The Rhinos certainly put that disappointment behind them as Ben Jones-Bishop, Ryan Hall, Zak Hardaker, Ryan Bailey and debutant Shaun Lunt all crossed the whitewash to seal a convincing win. After the match, the coach was full of praise for his players and says he's glad they've got over the 'embarrassment' of their previous defeat in the South of France. "We were embarrassed last year and wanted to turn that around," he said. "We were very aware that, had we not performed and ultimately got the result, it would have dented our confidence." "We are trying to gain some momentum and hopefully that will be one of many performances for a while," he added.
