Danny McGuire has backed his Leeds team-mates to cope without him and revealed he is focused on returning in time for the play-offs.
The Rhinos half-back suffered a knee injury during Friday's 68-24 romp over Widnes Vikings, which put his place in the Challenge Cup final against Warrington in jeopardy.
And the bad news was confirmed as he is ruled out of action for up to eight weeks, ruling him out of the Wembley showpiece on August 25.
McGuire though is determined to keep thinking positively and is focusing on returning to help Leeds in their Grand Final push.
"Obviously I'm devastated," McGuire told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "It is just unfortunate, the timing of it. I was excited and looking forward to having a big finish to the year.
"I've just got to turn my focus on trying to get back and getting involved in the play-offs. I have got to stay positive.
"It gives someone else an opportunity to put their hand up and I'm sure the players will pull together. I'm going to stay involved and have an input if I can. I think I've still get stuff to offer."
