Huddersfield have confirmed that they have agreed to allow Kevin Brown to leave his contract after being ruled out for the season.

The playmaker has spent much of the season with a damaged ankle and it's now been decided that the best move is for him to undergo surgery, meaning he will be unavailable for the remainder of the campaign. Brown has already signed a deal to play for Super League rivals Widnes in 2013 and the Giants have now agreed to let him leave early to ensure his fitness for next season. The 26-year-old made 172 appearances during his time at the Galpharm Stadium and has thanked the club for helping him to develop as a player. "I have enjoyed my time at the Giants and am sorry that I won't be able to finish as I wanted but the injury has got to the stage where it needed fixing up," he said. "I really hope that the boys can have a strong end to the year and I look forward now to getting ready for the next chapter in my career which will be at Widnes."
