Warriors announce new boss
Rugby League, 14:04, October 7, 2009 ,
Melbourne Storm assistant Michael Maguire has been named as the new coach of Wigan Warriors, penning a three-year deal.
The 35-year-old will succeed Brian Noble, who moved on following Wigan's play-off defeat to St Helens, at the DW Stadium having helped Melbourne to another NRL title in 2009.
The position with Warriors will be the Australian's first role as coach and he will join up with the club next month, as he prepares the squad for the 2010 Super League campaign.
Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan said: "Michael is one of the most highly related young coaches in the game who has learned under a master coach at Melbourne in Craig Bellamy.
Maguire meanwhile, told the club's website: "Wigan has some great structures in place, particularly with the development of young quality players through their ranks. I have spoken to many people in the game and everyone has good things to say about the Wigan Club."
