Wigan have been rocked by the news prop forwards Paul Prescott and Ben Flower face up to six weeks on the sidelines due to injury.
Flower suffered a hamstring injury during an under-20s game at the weekend, while Prescott damaged knee ligaments in the Warriors' 18-4 Challenge Cup quarter-final win over St Helens on Saturday.
Coach Shaun Wane, who is hoping front-rower Epalahame Lauaki, who was knocked out against the Saints, and centre Darrell Goulding will both be fit for Friday's clash with second-placed Huddersfield at the Galpharm Stadium, feels the adversity of losing two key men will give an opportunity to some youth players to make the step up.
"Ben would have played this week so sadly those two are out for the forseeable future," said Wane.
"It does, however, give a chance to some of our youngsters, Gil Dudson and Dom Crosby and the like, who are ready to play and I have put pressure on our junior coaches to make sure these sort of players are up to speed and are ready to come into our team."
