Cockerill 'heavy heart' over Moody move
Rugby Union, 11:39, March 7, 2010 ,
Leicester boss Richard Cockerill believes Lewis Moody's decision to move to Bath will not have a massive impact on his Tigers side.
Moody will join Guinness Premiership rivals Bath on a three-year contract at the end of the current season, after failing to agree a new deal with Leicester.
The 31-year-old has spent 14 seasons with Leicester, picking up six Premiership titles and two Heineken Cups during his time at the Tigers.
However, while praising Moody's performances Cockerill believes his decision to move is 'just one of those things' and downplayed the impact his exit will have.
He said: "First and foremost Lewis has been fantastic for the club. He has been a world-class player here and he has come through our system, so it is disappointing to lose those guys.
"But in a professional game things change, and at stages in negotiations sometimes both parties get to a point where they can't agree and unfortunately that is what happened.
"Lewis goes with a heavy heart from us in some ways. In the professional game decisions have to be made on both sides. It's not Lewis' fault or the club's fault, it is just one of those things."
