Leicester director of rugby Richard Cockerill has revealed that flanker Tom Croft could be back in action within a month.
Croft missed England's summer tour of South Africa due to a neck injury and is yet to appear in the Premiership this season following a number of setbacks.
However, he has now stepped up his recovery and Cockerill says the 26-year-old could be available within the next few weeks.
"He has had some repeat scans to see how the healing of the vertebrae is going," he said. "If that comes back positive then he can start to ramp that up and in three or four weeks he could be playing."
Croft's return will also be good news for England and, if fit, he will more than likely play for his country during the Autumn Tests against Fiji, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
