Former Wales half-back Jonathan Davies has urged Cardiff Blues winger Alex Cuthbert to turn down a big money move to France.

The 22-year-old has impressed with Wales in their Grand Slam winning RBS 6 Nations campaign and with the Blues in the RaboDirect Pro12 competition this term. Cuthbert, who is still at the very early stages of his rugby career, has recently attracted interest from across the Channel and there are concerns the winger could be another big name from Wales to move to the Top14 tournament in France. Toulon and Racing Metro are both believed to be interested in acquiring the youngster's services but Davies is confident Cuthbert will improve his game, if he stays in his homeland and continues progressing with the Blues. Davies told Scrum V: "It's not always the money which is best. And I feel that if they develop him in France, fair enough, and look at his defensive qualities and they persevere with him and educate him, that's great. "But in Cardiff, if he stays in Wales with the Welsh coaches and now with Phil [Davies], it's a question of, right, we've got to work on his defensive capabilities because the last thing he wants is to go to France and lose his confidence and then lose his [Wales] place."
