Gloucester have confirmed that they have completed the signing of Cornish Pirates' full-back Rob Cook.
The 28-year-old, who has enjoyed a successful three seasons with the Pirates making over 100 appearances and scoring 249, 413 and 367 points respectively, was named in the Championship Dream Team for 2011/12. And that is what attracted Gloucester's director of rugby Nigel Davies to his availability as he looks to bolster his squad given that Martyn Thomas is the only specialist full-back with Olly Morgan still working his way back to fitness after knee surgery. "Ideally, I like to have three players competing for every position in the side. Olly's doing well with his rehab but we don't want to rush him. If Martyn were to pick up a knock, we'd be short of numbers," said Davies on the Gloucester website. "So, Rob is a perfect addition to the squad. He's been a stand out performer at Championship level for several seasons and brings something different to the table in that he's a quality goal kicker as well. "We feel that he's ready to make the step up and are delighted that he'll do so in the Cherry and White of Gloucester."
