Ronan O'Gara said he did not believe Steve Hansen meant to be "condescending" when remarking Ireland had peaked.
New Zealand coach Hansen suggested Declan Kidney's troops had hit top gear during the second Test defeat in Christchurch. Dan Carter kicked a dramatic late winning drop-goal when the world champions were down to 14 men to deny Ireland.
The 22-19 loss followed the 42-10 opening Test setback at Eden Park, but O'Gara, brought in as a replacement for both games against the All Blacks, did not feel there was any malice meant by Hansen.
Fly-half O'Gara explained: "A lot of that, you can read into it after an event. You could say that it is condescending but I don't think it was meant like that.
"We all speak with emotions sometimes and that was what Steve felt at the time. I would have no problem with that."
