Sale Sharks have completed a double move by signing Cameron Shepherd and Corne Uys ahead of the start of the new season next month.

Australia international Shepherd had been close to joining Northampton earlier this month, agreeing terms with the Aviva Premiership outfit only for the Saints to pull out of the deal over fitness concerns. However, medical issues have not put off the Sharks and their new director of rugby Bryan Redpath is confident that the 28-year-old will be a big hit in the Premiership. "We hope to get him fully fit so he can make a big impact for this club," Redpath said. The Sharks also moved to snap up South Africa-born centre Uys following his release from the relegated Newcastle Falcons and Redpath is delighted to have improved the depth of the squad. "Corne will give us extra cover and will work with Will Addison," Redpath added. "He has Premiership experience, possesses a sound skill set and is very knowledgeable. He's fitted in very well and we're looking forward to seeing him play here." Sale face a trip to last season's surprise package Exeter for their opening game of the season on September 1.
