Cardiff Blues star Sam Warburton is expected to face Toulon on Sunday despite suffering a dislocated finger in the defeat by Sale.
The Wales captain suffered the injury inside the first minute of the Blues defeat in Salford last time out but the Blues remain confident Warburton will be available for the visit of Toulon.
Warburton's availability will provide Cardiff with a huge boost ahead of the Heineken Cup tie at Arms Park after the Blues revealed the injury is not as bad as was first feared.
A Blues statement said: "Following a check-up with Blues specialists, the Blues can confirm that Warburton won't require surgery on his finger.
"Having had the finger put back in its socket at Salford Royal Infirmary, Blues medical staff are now waiting for the finger joint to settle.
"However, it is expected that Sam will be fit to play against Toulon on Sunday."
Had Warburton required surgery he would have almost certainly missed Wales' tie with Argentina on November 10 but the 24-year-old should be available for the international fixture.
