Airdrie plan O'Brien swoop

Airdie United are talking to Burton O'Brien over a possible move, according to boss Jimmy Boyle.

O'Brien, 31, has been without a club for over a year after seeing his contract at Falkirk end at the end of the 2010-11 season but could now be on the verge of a return to Scottish football. The former Scotland Under-21 midfielder is currently holding talks with the Diamonds but is also thought to be of interest to a number of foreign clubs. Boyle says he would welcome someone of O'Brien to the club and is trying to work out a deal. "Burton has a great deal of experience and is versatile so he would be a welcome addition to any squad in this League," he said. 'We will keep talking to him to see what we can do to bring him on board."
