Dumbarton's play-off hero Craig Dargo revealed he played through the pain barrier to help fire his side into the First Division.

The Sons striker went into the play-off final second leg at Airdrie with a torn hamstring but battled through to hit a brace in an emphatic 4-1 victory. Mark Gilhaney and Tony Wallace hit the other goals for Dumbarton as they wrapped up a 6-2 aggregate win and a return to the second tier after a 16-year exile. "I wasn't even sure if I was going to be on the bench but the manager asked and dangled the carrot in front of me," said Dargo, whose current deal ends this summer. "This is the first promotion and first thing I have ever won in my career. We deserved it over the two legs - I just hope the club offer me a new deal now that we're in the First Division."
