Queen of the South have confirmed that manager Gus McPherson has left the club following his side's relegation from Division One.
McPherson moved back to Palmerston Park last summer and was charged with rebuilding the squad after inheriting just three players.
However, the Doonhamers have struggled this season with defeat at Raith Rovers on Saturday confirming their relegation and the board have now decided to sack both McPherson and his assistant Andy Millen so that they can start planning for next year.
A statement from Queen of the South said: "Gus and Andy agreed that it was in the best interests of both parties that we make the change now. The Directors of the club would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all of their efforts in what has been a difficult season for all involved at the club."
"We wish them well for the future."
