Hamilton tie down teenager

Hamilton Accies youngster Greg Docherty has signed a three-year professional deal with the club.

The 16-year-old is currently sidelined with three fractured metatarsal bones but the club have seen enough in Docherty at youth level to offer him a contract which will keep him at the club until at least 2015. Docherty, a Scotland under-17 international, is expected to begin training with the first-team squad in November and manager Billy Reid believes he has what it takes to challenge for a place in his starting eleven. "Greg has progressed well and, when he's back playing next month, I'm sure he'll continue to push towards the first team," Reid said. Hamilton meanwhile host Livingston on Saturday as the club look to move away from the bottom two in the First Division.
