Matt Lockwood has committed his future to Dundee after admitting it would be difficult to uproot his family.
The former Leyton Orient stalwart moved to Scotland in 2010 and has become an influential member of the Dark Blues' squad.
Lockwood told boss Barry Smith of his intention to stay for another season and insisted he was desperate to remain in his adopted homeland all along as Dundee prepare for another promotion assault.
"I'm delighted we're staying put and I've told the gaffer that. My wife loves Edinburgh and our kids are happy there so the thought of uprooting was one we were dreading," Lockwood said.
"When you're happy and settled off the field it makes all the difference. I can't wait for next season. We're all going for the same thing which is promotion."
