Nicoll blow for Sons

Dumbarton have confirmed that midfield enforcer Kevin Nicoll will miss the first few weeks of the season with a groin injury.

The 26-year-old picked-up the problem during training and will now have to have to go under the knife to correct the issue. Boss Alan Adamson has admitted that the loss of Nicoll comes as a huge blow to his plans and has already started looking for a replacement. "Losing big Kevin is a blow as he adds a lot of strength to our team," he said. "It will be October until he is back, at the earliest, and thankfully I have some scope to bring someone else in and I will use our pre-season matches to assess players."
