Reid hurting after relegation

Ayr boss Brian Reid says his side are 'hurting' following their relegation to Scottish Division Two on Saturday.

Reid's side went down 3-1 at home to Airdrie in the second-leg of their play-off clash to seal their fate after finishing ninth in the first division table. Ayr had given themselves a chance of avoiding the drop after claiming a goalless draw in the first leg with the Diamonds but failed to capitalise on their advantage. Despite his side's poor season, Reid insists that they don't deserve to be relegated and says that everyone at the club is 'hurting' after Saturday's game. "I don't think we deserved to go down," said Reid. "I felt in the play-offs we could give ourselves a fighting chance. We're hurting at the moment but we will need to pick ourselves up."
