Dumbarton defender Alan Lithgow has turned down a move elsewhere to re-sign for newly-promoted Dumbarton next season.
The defender joined the Sons a year ago and played a vital part in their promotion campaign which saw them move into the Scottish First Division following their play-off win over Airdrie United.
Dumbarton manager Alan Adamson has managed to persuade the 24-year-old to stay for the 2012-13 season and admits he had competition from other clubs.
He said: "I'm absolutely delighted that Alan has made the decision to stay with us. It's great news for the club as he was a terrific player last season and other clubs were keen on him."
Lithgow made 22 appearances for the Sons last term, scoring four goals.
