Recently relegated Ayr United have appointed striker Mark Roberts as the club's new manager after Brian Reid left the club.
Reid leaves Somerset Park after five years in charge, a spell which saw him guide the Honest Men to the First Division on two occasions, though relegation this time around has seen the 41-year-old end his reign. Now Roberts, who was signed by Reid as a player in 2009, will take charge of the club as they seek to bounce back into the second-tier in the 2012-13 campaign. Head of youth development Davie White will become Roberts' assistant for his first steps in club management and the new boss, who scored 51 goals for the club, says he is looking forward to this new chapter in his career. He told the club's official website: "I can't wait to get started. "I'm looking forward to the opportunity and I always relish a challenge and the chance to be the manager of Ayr United is one that I couldn't pass up."
