Stranraer promoted to Division Two
Scottish Division 2,
Scottish Football League chief executive David Longmuir has confirmed Stranraer will be promoted to the Scottish Second Division.
Keith Knox's side were beaten in the play-off final last season but have now earned promotion in the unlikeliest of manners, as is the story with Airdrie United who move up to the First Division.
The move follows the SPL's decision to allow Dundee to replace Rangers in the Premier League for next season.
Longmuir told BBC Scotland: "The play-offs are there to give us a path for promotion.
"Therefore, this season's defeated finalists will automatically gain promotion once the appropriate paperwork between Dundee and the SPL is complete.
"I'd expect that to happen in the next few days."
Stranraer will assume Airdrie's fixture list for the 2012-13 campaign, starting with a home tie against Arbroath.
