Former Gretna manager Rowan Alexander has returned to senior football in a Head of Youth role at Annan Athletic.
The 51-year-old has been out of the game for five years after being dismissed by Gretna in 2007, a year after leading them to a Scottish Cup Final against Hearts. Alexander set up the Professionals Elite Football Academy following his departure from Raydale and is now embarking on a new chapter in his career with Third Division outfit Annan, a move which has pleased chairman Henry McClelland. He said: "Following a review of youth football at Annan we are delighted to bring Rowan and Tony on board as we believe that they can build on the successful foundations in place." Alexander, who also managed Queen of the South, scored 179 goals in 531 appearances as a player for Queens, St Mirren, Brentford, Greenock Morton and Morton.
