Cairney pleased with workout

Annan Athletic began their pre-season programme with a 5-1 victory over south of Scotland side Abbey Vale on Saturday.

The warm-up encounter proved to be a fruitful one for Annan new boys Scott Chaplain and Michael Daly. The Galabank side struggled to get going at the start of the contest and fell behind to an early goal. However, a double from Graeme Bell and a strike from Chaplain sent Harry Cairney's men into the break 3-1 ahead. Daly made it four before trialist Graeme Ramage completed the scoring. Annan boss Cairney said: "It was a good workout and I am sure the new players enjoyed getting a goal under their belt."
