Berwick chairman Brian Porteous has revealed the Scottish Cup home tie with Celtic helped clear the club's debt.
The Borderers recorded an operating profit of £153,000 during the last financial year, thanks in the main to the money received for the January cup clash which was shown live on Sky Sports. The profit came on the back of a £3,700 loss the previous year.
"The Scottish Cup tie with Celtic helped increase our turnover from £261,000 in 2010 to £470,000 in 2011 as the game generated additional gate receipts and income was added to with a payment from Sky," said Porteous.
"Effectively we are now debt free, and in a fortunate position as there cannot be many clubs in Scotland who can say that at this present time."
