Rangers have signed midfielder Ian Black on a three-year deal following his release from Hearts.

The signing comes just a day after Ally McCoist's side were granted conditional Scottish Football Association membership, although the player's full registration will not be completed until next Friday. Black, 27, says he is excited about the challenge ahead. "It's going to be tough for us and we know it's not going to be a walk in the park," he told the club website. "We're going to have to work hard and do the right things in every game. "We know it is going to be tough but there's great ability throughout the squad from our youths right through to the first team. "Everything is there for us to go and do a job. It is exciting to be part of things at Rangers just now." Rangers have also re-signed Northern Ireland striker Andy Little on a two-year contract extension as the club look to wrap up their transfer dealings before a 12-month transfer embargo comes into effect on September 1.
