Rangers newco will play against East Fife in the first round of the Scottish Communities League Cup.
The Ibrox club will play in the League Cup at this stage for the first time since 1978 after the newco club was admitted into the Scottish Third Division. The match between Rangers and East Fife, which is set to take place on August 4, will be the newco clubs' first home fixture, starting the dawn of a new era in the Scottish Football League. East Fife manager Gordon Durie is already relishing the prospect of taking on Rangers but insists he has some sympathy with boss Ally McCoist. "It's fantastic for a small club like ours that we are going to Ibrox and the nerves are getting to me already," he told Rangers' official website. "But at the same time I feel so much for Coisty because this whole situation has been so difficult and distressing."
